I was wondering about opinions with respect to incorporating NonEuclidean geometry into the high school curriculum. The Ohio competencies for the high school graduation qualifying exam only address area, perimeter, surface area, volume, measurement. To what extent will those competencies influence whether or not teachers would be interested in or willing to incorporate nonEuclidean geometry? Would it be just for the 'college bound' students? I think it is a nice vehicle to deepen understanding about Euclidean geometry and the spherical geometry (e.g., navigation relationship) could make mathematics interesting to the non-college bound student. Wondered what you think.
